Hello! Hope you’re well. Here’s the latest:
One More Week.
Well, today’s a first. For the first time ever, I’ve delayed the release of an episode of Holy Ghost Stories. According to the regular schedule, today would have been the day Episode 10 dropped, bringing the Exodus series to a close.
But seeing as though this season has been truly special, Kendall and I wanted to take a little more time to make the season finale worthy of its subject matter.
So Episode 10 (appropriately titled “At Last”) will be released one week from today, on June 26. We’re doing everything we can to bring a fitting conclusion to the incredible story we’ve been privileged to tell this season.
I truly think you’re going to love it.
Thanks so very much for your patience. And we’d love your prayers as we finish creating this one. We want to give you the best episode we can possibly create.
Announcing: Bonfire
BIG NEWS, you guys. I’m thrilled to let you know that alongside the final episode of Season 4, Hazefire Studios will be releasing a book called Bonfire: A Guide to Encountering God in the Exodus.
If you’ve enjoyed this season and would love a way to go deeper, this is for you. You’ll be guided through 10 weeks of encounter—each week focused on one of the 10 episodes of this season and the associated Biblical text—with a different plan for each day of the week (M-F). Original essays by myself and my editor, JL Gerhardt, thoughtful reflection/discussion questions, prayer prompts, informational tidbits—we’re providing you with 300 pages of content that will serve as the perfect companion to the Holy Ghost Stories Exodus series.
Bonfire is perfect for:
The avid HGS listener who wants to re-listen to this season with a trusted guide
The casual HGS listener who could use some help going deeper with Yahweh and asking “what now?”
A small group looking for quality content to fuel rich discussion and connection
A Bible class or study group who’d benefit from being introduced to HGS
A family seeking ways to give structure to devotional time
A teenager who might find HGS an effective on-ramp to engaging with Scripture
Bonfire will not be an exhaustive study of the Book of Exodus, mind you, but—as the name indicates—a guide to encountering Yahweh within the story of the Exodus. Who is He? What does He love? What makes Him angry or emotional? What desires drive His behavior? These are the kinds of questions Bonfire will help you ask and answer. If the greatest good is loving God, we must work to know Him. This is the goal of Bonfire.
I can’t wait to get this resource in your hands. As is the way with Holy Ghost Stories, high caliber content is top priority and beauty is a close second.

You’ll be able to order your copy (maybe a set for your small group?) on Monday when Episode 10 drops. It’s a great way to draw closer to Yahweh and a great way to support HGS. I’m already praying Bonfire will lead you closer to Him in some life-changing ways.
4 Cool Things
Orthodoxy - I’m reading through G.K. Chesterton’s Orthodoxy again and I’m absolutely loving it. (I’m reading and listening, actually—it’s the kind of book that has enough substance to reward two passes at each chapter). If you’re not familiar, it’s an account of Chesterton’s journey from agnosticism to Christianity. He’s an absolute delight—brilliant, impassioned (a bit pokey, some might say), and so witty. This is one of my favorite books ever wrtitten.
Food Photography Awards - Some of these photos blew my mind. Just incredible.
Storied Family Camp - My wife and I are hosting a weekend retreat/worksop/camp focused on how to anchor your kids within the context of the story He’s writing in your family. It’s like a parenting conference, but fun. :) Join us at Camp Eagle in TX this Fall—it’ll be magic.
Lectio 365 - I’ve shared this before, but if you haven’t checked it out you should. Morning and evening audio devotions in the style of Lectio Divina. I’ve been a user of this UK-based app for over two years now, and I love it. They’re doing an excellent 21-day series on pilgrimage right now.
Our Planet II - 1. Creation is absolutely stunning. 2. This footage is…how? 3. David Attenborough is 97 years old and still doing stellar work.
That’s the latest! I can’t wait to share the Season 4 finale (and Bonfire!) with you next week. And don’t forget to check out Storied Family Camp—I’d love to see you there.
Gratefully,
Justin
Bonfire looks great!
