Happy Light Day!
That’s what I’m calling this fine Thursday, since today’s the day part 2 of the Creation series drops—in this episode, the incredible moment when Yahweh speaks photons into existence. Oh—and we’ll grab day two as well, when He makes the sky.
“Makes the sky”!!—these are some wild things we’re considering, no?
As each part of this series releases, I’m going to send you a quick email with interesting stuff related to that part of creation. Sound good? Good.
What Is Light?
This video is a great primer on the unbelievably fascinating thing we call light. As you watch, just repeat to yourself, God made this in four words (two if you’re counting the Hebrew).
By the way, I love the moment in this piece (written from an atheistic perspective): “So why is c, or the speed of light, finite then? Well, nobody knows. Our universe is just built this way.” Built, you say? Fascinating concept…
Oh—and this line at the end: “For now, let’s just be happy that we evolved eyes that pick up waves of information permeating the universe, making us see things that help us to put our existence into perspective.” Indeed. ;)
Seeing Color
Here’s a great exploration of God’s approach to giving us the ability to perceive the light He creates on day one.
Seeing Light We Can’t See
Thanks to certain cameras, we can see what’s just outside of the spectrum of ‘visible light’—and it’s incredible. Personally, I’m a big fan of what this has done in the realm of space photography. Here are a few images of the very real beauty God created that we’ve only just discovered:

Oh—And Clouds!
We’ll watch Yahweh part the waters and create the sky in this episode, which means we’ll see Him make clouds. I’m a big fan of this move. :) Too, it’s a great example of the way our God engineers the world to be not just a ‘created’ thing, but a thing in which He’s able to continually create.
In celebration of this meteorological milestone, we should enjoy some good cloud images, yes? Yes.

Spend This Time With Him
Consider praying before you play this episode. Maybe something like, “Yahweh, as I stand beside you in these first moments of creation, show me who you are.” And then after you’ve listened and imagined, spend a bit of time in worship praising the Father of Lights.
Happy listening.
