Hello! Hope you’re well. Been a minute since we last spoke; lots to tell you. Here’s the latest:
Which Stories Are Coming Up?
First off, Season 3 of Holy Ghost Stories begins in two weeks! I’ve been hard at work on various HGS-related stuff during the off-season, but I’m excited to get back into the rhythm of sharing the fabulous stories of Scripture with you.
Speaking of stories, you ask, exactly which stories will you be telling this season?
I’m so glad you asked.
As you may have heard, I entrust my patrons with the sacred responsibility of helping me choose which stories each season. I offered 14 episodes’ worth of options for Season 3. Here are the top 5; the people have spoken!
Balaam & his donkey (Numbers 22)
Gideon’s call & the defeat of the Midianites (Judges 6-7)
Tamar & Judah (Genesis 38)
Daniel’s rise to prominence in Babylon (Daniel 1-2)
Leah & Rachel (Genesis 29-30)
I’ll keep the rest a secret for now, but you can be assured it’ll be a great mix of classic OT hits and not-so-familiar deep cuts. There’s great stuff on deck and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Season 3 kicks off on January 31, so make sure you’re subscribed and all that good stuff. Here are the links for Apple & Spotify.
New Bonus Episode Just Dropped
If you’re a patron and you’d rather not wait two more weeks for some fresh HGS content, I’ve got good news. Last night, a brand new bonus episode dropped on Patreon (and on the patrons-only secret podcast feed). 🎉 It’s a companion to Season 2 Episode 7, telling the poignant story of the last chapter of Hezekiah’s life.
Not a patron? Now’s a great time to jump in, don’t you think? You’ll get access to bonus episodes like this no matter which level of support you choose, and you’ll also get the joy of partnering with me and a fabulous group of kindred spirits to bring these stories into the world.
Cape Town Bound 🇿🇦
Sometimes, plans don’t work out. (Have you noticed this?)
I’m writing this edition of The Latest in a Holiday Inn Express in New Jersey. My family and I are camped out right now in the lobby, having commandeered one of the breakfast tables that’s still littered with the remnants of our vending machine lunch.
We were set, you see, to leave two days ago. But travel in the time of COVID means lots of rules and not a lot of communication or agreement about said rules. (Have you noticed this, too?) Accordingly, although we had reviewed both the South African and United States governments’ websites about testing requirements, we were told by United Airlines that our antigen tests were insufficient and turned away at the gate.
Heartbreaker.
Four rapid PCR tests and a couple of days at the Holiday Inn later, we’re waiting on the airport shuttle to whisk us off to Newark, where hopefully this trip will rise like a phoenix from the ashes of Covid craziness.
Hopefully.
Stay tuned! 🤷🏼♂️
What Are you Wearing?
Big news!
This has been a long time coming—you guys have been jonesing for a while for a way to rep your HGS pride, asking for everything from t-shirts to Yetis to stickers.
Well, I’m thrilled to let you know that the Holy Ghost Stories Merch Store officially launches today.
More items are on the way, but here’s a peek at some of the good stuff waiting for you at this very moment:
Head over there now and grab something for yourself (maybe a gift for a fellow HGS enthusiast, as well). Oh—and move quickly: a couple of items are only available for a few weeks.
Can’t wait to see you guys in your gear. This is a great way to support the show—so thanks in advance!
